Accommodation provided by individuals and private companies

Individuals and companies are entitled to a financial contribution from the state for each accommodated person from Ukraine.

The owners of facilities will be paid the grant for providing accommodation to persons who have been granted the status of temporary refuge by the Government of the Slovak Republic until December 31, 2023. Subsequently, the Government of the Slovak Republic will extend or suspend the payment of this assistance.

For you, this means that you can apply for accommodation, including the utilities (water, electricity and gas), for free until December 31, 2023.

You can get free accommodation only if you have been granted the status of “Temporary Refuge”. You can learn more in the article Temporary Refuge.

Real estate owners are not required to provide accommodation, it all depends on their willingness to help. Therefore, check in advance whether the accommodation owner will apply for the state grant or you will pay for the accommodation yourself.

How to apply for free accommodation

If the accommodation owner decides to apply for the state grant for a person who has been granted the status of temporary refuge, then, according to the law, he/she may not ask you to pay for accommodation or utilities (water, electricity and gas). Other additional services such as internet and television are subject to mutual agreement between you and the accommodation owner.

Applying is easy.

The accommodation owner shall submit the state grant application together with the accommodation contract and your personal data, including a document on Temporary Refuge at the municipal or city office in the place of accommodation.

Subsequently, it will be necessary for you to notify the municipality or city office in the place of accommodation once a month whether you still live in the place where you registered.
